Four years ago I opened an ad account for the first time. What happened after that is easier to show than explain.

Where it started
A certificate at SLIM, then a diploma at EMinds. I wanted the fundamentals before I touched anyone's budget.
SL@slim4 years ago
I took the Preliminary Certificate in Digital Marketing at the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, then went deeper with a Diploma in Practical Digital Marketing at EMinds Academy. Two things stuck: marketing is a numbers discipline, and the people who win are the ones who actually understand the platform, not just the buzzwords.

Intern to executive
Six months as an intern at One Day Digital. Then they kept me. First real accounts, first real pressure.
OD@onedaydigital3 years ago
I started as a Digital Marketing Intern in January and moved into a Digital Marketing Executive role by June. SEO, content, and my first hands on a live ad account. Practising on my own was comfortable — spending someone else's money was not. That year taught me more than any course could.

Going specialist
Visual Studios Plus. A full year owning SEO and paid across a mixed client roster.
VS@visualstudios2 years ago
As a Digital Marketing Specialist I ran search, social and SEO across a range of accounts. This was where I stopped thinking in campaigns and started thinking in systems — how tracking, creative and budget decisions feed each other, and why most accounts leak money in the gaps between them.

Performance, properly
Digibrush — Sri Lanka's most awarded agency. Bigger budgets, sharper standards, no room to guess.
DB@digibrush2 years ago
Joining the performance team at Digibrush changed the scale of everything. Real budgets, national brands and a room full of people who knew more than I did. I moved fully into paid media strategy — Google, Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok — and started building the reporting and automation the team kept asking for.

Grand Prix
The Emerald Double Pocket campaign took the Grand Prix at SLIM Digis 2025 — and was the most awarded work of the night.
GP@slimdigis1 year ago
As the performance marketer on Emerald, I watched the Double Pocket campaign take Grand Prix for Agile Moment Marketing, plus Gold for Agile Moment Marketing, E-Commerce and Small Budget Impact, Silver for Digital Bravery and a Merit for Performance Marketing. Digibrush took its third consecutive Grand Prix and 24 wins that night. Small budget, sharp idea, relentless optimisation — that combination still shapes how I work.

A new seat at Azbow
Performance Marketing Specialist. Same discipline, more ownership over the systems behind it.
AZ@azbow5 months ago
I moved to Azbow in April as a Performance Marketing Specialist. The brief is broader here — strategy, media buying, and the automation and reporting layer underneath it. Fewer handoffs, faster decisions, and a lot more of my own code running in the background.

The part most marketers skip
Four years in, $150K+ a month in spend, and I still think the biggest edge is being able to build your own tools.
AK@arkam2 hours ago
Platforms keep shipping updates — server-side tracking, value rules, AI traffic channels in GA4. Most advertisers wait for someone else to build the workflow. I write it myself: automations, custom reporting, cleaner data pipelines. That's the difference between running campaigns and running a growth system.

FAQ
Got any questions?
Retainers start at $1,500 a month for accounts spending $10,000 or more, and $3,000 a month for multi-channel accounts above $25,000. Above $25,000 in monthly ad spend the fee moves to 10% of media. One-off audits and campaign sprints are quoted per project.
Month one is campaign build and conversion tracking repair. Month two is where testing starts producing signal. Judging paid media on 30 days means judging the setup, not the performance.
No account managers, no sales team, no office. You are paying for the person doing the work. The trade is that I take on a limited number of accounts.
Above $25,000 a month, yes — 10%. Below that a flat monthly fee is fairer to you, because the work does not scale with the budget in a straight line.
Start with an audit. It takes five working days and covers account structure, conversion tracking and attribution. If it tells you everything is fine, that is a useful thing to know.
$5,000 a month for the Ongoing Retainer and $25,000 for Growth Partner. Custom projects have no minimum. Below $5,000 a retainer eats too much of the media budget to be honest work.
Yes. Based in Colombo, working with brands across Sri Lanka, Dubai and the UAE, and remotely with teams in other markets.
